G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development
(GBPIHED) invited applications from young researchers for award of“Himalayan Junior Research Fellowships
(HJRF)” 2013-2014 to
six aspirants in the different subject areas of Himalayan Environment and
Development. The fellowship will be for a period of two years, extendable for a
maximum of one more year. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the
post by sending the complete application form along with all the necessary
documents to the concerned office by 20 February 2014.I

1. Himalayan Junior Research Fellowships (HJRF): 6 posts
Period of Fellowship: Candidate will be granted fellowship for a period of two years that will be further extendable for a period of one
year, based on performance.
Total tenure of Junior/Senior Research Fellowship shall not exceed 5 years.

Fellowship: Rs.12000 per month+HRA Rs.16000 per month+HRA (for NET/GATE
qualified candidates) for initial two years.
On successful completion of the tenure of two years, if the research period is extended then the fellowship will be up-graded to Senior Research Fellowship and the fellow would be entitled to fellowship amount of Rs.14000 per month+HRA Rs.18000 per month+HRA (for NET/GATE qualified candidates)

NOTE: Himalayan Junior Research
Fellows should register for PhD within a period of two years from the date of
joining their fellowship, failing which the fellowship may be terminated.
Eligibility Criterion
Age limit: not more than 28 years. (as on last date of application)
Upper age limit is relax-able up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped candidates.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Physical, Biological, Social Sciences or
equivalent degree in any relevant subject or Degree in Engineering and
Medicine.
Candidate enrolled for M.Sc. final exams or having completed (10+2+3) years of the mentioned qualifying exams are eligible to apply.

Experience: Relevant work experience
in Watershed Processes and Management (WPM)/Socio Economic Development
(SED)/Environmental Assessment and Management (EAM)/Biodiversity Conservation
and Management (BCM)/Biotechnology Applications (BTA)/Knowledge Products and
Capacity Building (KCB) is desiarable.
Selection Procedure: Selection will be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in
the Interview.
Only
short-listed candidates fulfilling the eligibility criterion will be called for
the Interview.
Selected
candidates will be required/expected to join within one month of effective date
of award of fellowship.
NOTE: Candidates who have already cleared the National Entrance Test
(NET) for JRFs, or have experience in relevant field, will be preferred.
